Dengue encephalitis is a rare, severe neurological complication of dengue, a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by the dengue virus. In this condition, the virus affects the central nervous system, leading to inflammation of the brain. Symptoms may include confusion, seizures, paralysis, and even coma.
Multiorgan dysfunction refers to the simultaneous failure of multiple organ systems in the body. It can develop as a result of underlying conditions such as severe infections, sepsis, or trauma. Symptoms may vary depending on the organs involved but often include difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, altered mental status, kidney failure, and disturbances in blood clotting.
Early diagnosis plays a critical role, and supportive care is provided to manage symptoms and complications. Treatment may include intravenous fluids, mechanical ventilation, dialysis, and medication to stabilize blood pressure and cardiac function, control fever and seizures, and treat underlying infections.
