Yashoda Hospitals Launches Brain Stroke Awareness Initiative on World Stroke Day

Yashoda Hospitals Secunderabad Revolutionizes Stroke Care with State-of-the-Art Technology and Innovative Treatments

Yashoda Hospitals Secunderabad has launched a brain stroke awareness initiative, focusing on the latest treatments and technologies for stroke patients. The program was inaugurated by Hyderabad City (Traffic) Additional Commissioner of Police, Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, on the eve of World Stroke Day.

Addl. Commissioner of Police(Traffic), Sri. G. Sudheer Babu said, “An once-healthy person might become disabled and possibly even die from paralysis very quickly. The frequency is higher in men and is frequently associated with chronic illnesses and harmful practices. There is an increased chance of paralysis with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. Over 50 is also often when the risk of having a stroke increases. Our best line of defence as we age is routine medical examinations.”

On this occasion Yashoda Hospitals Group Director, Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, said “A new treatment technique known as mechanical thrombectomy is saving many patients from disability and death. A stroke happens when the blood supply to your brain is cut off, resulting in temporary or permanent damage to your brain cells. The mechanical thrombectomy procedure helps clear the clots in the blood vessels, re-establishing circulation to the brain. Yashoda Hospitals is at the forefront of providing this treatment, as more than 250 patients have received it till now, with 80% of patients experiencing a good recovery. This treatment can be done up to 24 hours after the initial symptoms.”

N. Komal Kumar, Consultant Neurologist & Head of Cerebrovascular Unit, Yashoda Hospitals, said, “There are two treatment options available to reopen those blood vessels. Firstly, thrombolysis injections, which can be administered up to 4–5 hours after the onset of paralysis, Secondly, thrombectomy is a method of removing a blockage of a blood vessel with a stent that can be done up to 24 hours after the onset of paralysis. Yashoda Hospitals, which has always been at the forefront of providing the best medical care in the field of medicine, launched the state-of-the-art technology called “Bi-Plane Neuro Angio Procedure Suite” with DTAS (Direct to Angio Suite) technology and provides patients with the best of care.”

The sooner a stroke patient arrives at the stroke center after symptom onset, and the quicker treatment is administered upon hospital arrival, the higher the chances of achieving a positive outcome. Delaying every hour before the initiation of treatment significantly reduces the chance of a good result by 30%. Yashoda Hospitals has introduced mechanical thrombectomy treatment for the first time in Telugu states, as well as the latest technology called “Bi-Plane Neuro Angio Procedure Suite” which works with DTAS (Direct to Angio Suite) technology for brain stroke treatment.

“With this “Bi-Plane Neuroangio Procedure Suite”, the scanning tests for brain stroke patients, their results, subsequent treatment decisions, and treatments (thrombolysis, thrombectomy) are all done in one room, on the same machine. This timely treatment can lead to a quick recovery from paralysis. The bi-plane system equips our team to provide patients with life-saving care with the highest speed and accuracy,” said Dr. R. N. Komal Kumar, Senior Neurologist. Yashoda Hospital Secunderabad.
