Dr. R. A. Purnachandra Tejaswi recently joined Yashoda Hospitals as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is specialised in Sports Medicine, Reconstructive Arthroscopy and Joint Preservation surgery of Shoulder, Hip and Knee. He is devoting his career to his patients by constantly striving to innovate and make procedures less invasive, with smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter downtime. He is committed to advancing his field of specialty. Dr. Tejaswi has developed innovative surgical techniques, including minimally invasive arthroscopic alternatives to some of the shoulder, hip, and knee’s most difficult problems. Dr.Tejaswi’s surgical innovations include irreparable massive rotator cuff tear and recurrent dislocations of the shoulder with bone loss. His innovation also includes using advanced bioscaffold technology to enhance cartilage regeneration within the hip to prevent arthritis development and further hip damage in adult populations.

Dr. Tejaswi went on to complete his Medical Degree at Government Medical College, Mysore and his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Manipal University. He also completed short fellowships in Hip and Shoulder surgery at Dresden, Germany and Rome, Italy. He finished his 1-year specialisation in Hip and Knee reconstructive surgery at ATOS Klinic in Heidelberg Germany from 2017-2018 and went on to finish a 1-year clinical fellowship in Sports Medcine, Reconstructive Arthroscopy and Joint Preservation surgery of Shoulder, Hip and Knee at Dalhousie Univeristy, Halifax, Canada. Dr. Tejaswi has been conferred the Fellow of the Arthroscopic Association of Canada in June 2019.

Dr. Tejaswi is continuously trying to improve patient outcomes by researching new and improved means of reconstructing, repairing, and preventing degeneration. He is currently conducting studies, which will evaluate outcomes of surgery, expand on current techniques, and advance orthopaedic surgery outcomes at a larger scale. Dr. Tejaswi has published and presented his research and novel techniques at the international level.
