The success rate for vitrectomy is around 90 percent, even in cases that are above 60 years of age.

Is vitrectomy major surgery?

A vitrectomy is a  major eye surgery which is normally carried out under local anaesthesia and in some cases general anesthesia is recommended.

How long does it take to heal from a vitrectomy?

There might be some pain in the eye and vision may be blurry for a few days after the surgery. A time period of  2 to 4 weeks is needed to recover. It can take longer for tghe vision to get back to normal.

Can you go blind from vitrectomy?

If not treated at the right time it can result in blindness. In some cases, vitrectomy can restore lost vision.
