How long do corneal grafts last?

Cornea transplants on a majority are successful and will work without complications for at least 10 years

What type of doctor does corneal transplants?

An eye surgeon or an ophthalmologist with a special training in corneal transplantation and having the license to transplant human tissues can perform corneal transplants.

What is the success rate of corneal transplant?

The rate of success of corneal transplantation in the majority of the cases is  as high as 90%, with good final visual acuity with glasses but can be around 10 to 20% in some of the cases.. Each patient is evaluated individually before specific results can be predicted.

How painful is a corneal transplant?

The eye is covered with an eye pad or plastic shield following the surgery and is removed the day after the procedure. Vision is slightly blurred which is normal. There may be some swelling and discomfort post the surgery.
