Cirrhosis is the advanced state of liver disease (scarring ‰ÛÒ fibrosis). Liver diseases like fibrosis are caused due to hepatitis and chronic alcohol abuse. Cirrhosis affects the normal functioning of the liver. It primary function to detoxify harmful substances in the body, cleaning the blood and making vital nutrients is severely affected. To diagnose the existence of cirrhosis, the tests include Liver Function Test (check for excess Bilirubin), Kidney Function Test (Creatinine), Hepatitis B & C, and Clotting Test. The imaging and other tests include, Magnetic Resonance Elastoplasty (MRE), MRI, CT and Ultrasound. Biopsy is also suggested only in exceptional cases.
