What is Hemiglossectomy?
Hemiglossectomy involves the removal of part or half of the tongue while preserving as much function and appearance as possible. The extent of tissue removed depends on the size and location of the tumor. Reconstruction is often done using tissue from another part of the body to maintain tongue mobility and speech clarity. It is effective treatment for oral cancer or severe trauma to the tongue.
