Benign tumours are noncancerous growths in the body that can occur anywhere in the body. Unlike cancerous tumours, they grow slowly, have distinct borders, and do not spread to other parts of the body.
Maxillofacial tumours form in the neck and face, particularly in the oral cavity, salivary glands, and temporal-mandibular joint, and are classified into three main groups: odontogenic tumours, general tissue-derived tumours, and maxillofacial cysts.
Depending on the size and type of the facial tumour, the recommended course of treatment may involve surgical removal (followed by radiotherapy or chemotherapy if the tumour is malignant). Based on the degree of correction made during surgery, facial reconstruction may be necessary to restore bone structure after the removal of the tumour.
