Patient Testimonial for Robotic Radical Prostatectomy

Testimonial by Mr. Sabim Mutali Kauti

Robotic radical prostatectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove the prostate gland, usually due to prostate cancer. During this procedure, the surgeon makes small incisions in the abdomen through which tiny surgical instruments and a camera are inserted. The surgeon sits at a console and controls the robotic arms equipped with instruments, allowing for precise movements to remove the prostate gland. The high-definition camera provides a detailed, magnified view, enhancing the surgeon’s accuracy during the procedure.

The advantages of robotic radical prostatectomy include smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery times, and potentially better outcomes in preserving urinary control and sexual function compared to traditional open surgery. However, there are potential risks and complications associated with any surgery, such as infection, bleeding, injury to surrounding structures, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, or the possibility of the cancer recurring. Patients considering this procedure should discuss the potential benefits and risks with their healthcare provider to make an informed decision about their treatment.

Mr. Sabim Mutali Kauti from Zambia successfully underwent Robotic Radical Prostatectomy for Grade 3 Prostate Cancer at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Suri Babu, Consultant Urologist, Laparoscopic, Robotic & Transplant Surgeon.
