Hip replacement surgery is a major surgical procedure performed to replace a damaged hip joint with an artificial implant. During the surgery, the surgeon will make one or two small incisions, typically 2-4 inches in length, and then use specialised instruments to access the hip joint and remove the damaged bone and cartilage.
