What is Cataract Surgery?
Cataract refers to the condition of the eye in which the lens of the eye becomes damaged and cloudy, resulting in blurred vision, affecting one or both eyes. Cataract surgery is aimed at removing the cloudy lens, in the eye and replacing it with an artificial lens, or intraocular lens in an attempt to restore clear vision. People suffering from diabetic eye problems, age-related macular degeneration, and common eye conditions such as a halo around the eyes, cloudy, blurry, distorted, or multiple visions, low visual acuity at night, and fading of the colours.
Types of Cataract Treatments
It is one of the most frequently carried out and successful surgeries across the globe, with a success rate of 98% and more. There are five types of cataract surgery namely phacoemulsification, extracapsular cataract surgery or SICS, intracapsular cataract surgery, femto laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), and micro-incision cataract surgery (MICS).
