RapidArc radiotherapy is a type of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) used for the treatment of cancers of the prostate, lung, spine, brain, head, and neck. Before beginning treatment with RapidArc, 3D images of your anatomy are generated using CT and/or PET scans which are used to plan and deliver the radiation dose.
RapidArc optimises tumour targeting by shaping the radiation dose to closely match the 3D geometry of the tumour, which minimises the damage to healthy tissue, and reduces the risk of adverse effects. It is faster, safer, and more effective than traditional radiation therapy, which significantly reduces the treatment time, and incidence of side effects, and allows for the best possible results
