Testimonial by Master. Aayush

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts communication, interaction, and perception of the world. The exact causes are not fully understood, but research suggests a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Genetic factors are strongly implicated, with numerous genes contributing to increased risk. Environmental influences, such as prenatal exposures, are also being researched. ASD symptoms vary significantly in severity and presentation from person to person, with core characteristics including persistent challenges with social communication and interaction, restricted, repetitive behavior, interests, or activities. Diagnosis is based on behavioral observations and developmental assessments with no single medical test. Clinicians use standardized diagnostic tools and conduct thorough evaluations to assess an individual’s social communication, behavioral patterns, and developmental history.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has no “cure,” and treatment focuses on minimizing symptoms and maximizing strengths. Common approaches include behavioral and communication therapies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), speech therapy, occupational therapy, and social skills training. Early intervention programs provide early support for young children with ASD, focusing on developmental skills. The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) blends ABA principles with play-based activities. Educational therapies include specialized educational programs tailored to students’ needs, sensory integration therapy, and physical therapy for motor coordination challenges. Medications may be prescribed to address co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and seizures.
