What is Earlobe Repair?
This surgery is done to correct the appearance of the earlobe, which is affected either due to a birth defect or due to any other cause, such as wearing an earring for a long time, that results in an earlobe injury (spilt, torn, or stretched earlobe).
Types of Lobuloplasty procedures
In most cases, a simple stitch is sufficient for small splits. After the split’s edges are cleaned, they are sewn back together. However, there are other types of techniques, such as Z plasty and flaps (filling the gap of earlobes with a skin flap created from other areas, called the donor site). Apart from these surgical earlobe reconstruction methods, earlobe repair is managed with non-surgical methods such as demal fillers & tissue glue; however, their results last only for a few months, unlike the permanent outcomes achieved through surgical techniques.
