What is Squint Eye?
Squint eye surgery, or strabismus surgery, corrects the eye misalignment caused by the issues in the muscles that control eye movements. This surgery preserves and restores the eye’s normal binocular sight, improves depth perception, enhances the eye’s functions and makes the eye aesthetically pleasing. In children with a significant squint (strabismus) of the eye and if the squint impacts the quality of life.
This surgery is indicated in patients suffering from myopia, double vision, eye strain, and headaches, as well as for psychological and aesthetic reasons. There are a few types of squint treatment without surgery, and some cases are performed with surgery. Here are a few types: refractive error correction, eye exercises, vision therapy, patch therapy, glasses or prism lenses, botulinum toxin injection, and other surgery.

Squint Eye: Pre-Op & Post-Op Care
Preparation for squint treatment
Following the ophthalmologist’s instructions before strabismus surgery, including avoiding certain medications and fasting. Mentally prepare by discussing any self-consciousness, anxieties, or other questions with our team of surgeons for a seamless experience.
During Squint Surgery
For squint eye treatment, the surgeon makes an incision on the conjunctiva (a clear tissue covering the eye), reaches out to the muscles controlling the eye movements, and adjusts them. The surgeon may tighten up one muscle and let loose the other as long as the eyes line up better.
After Squint Eye Treatment & Recovery Time
You may feel some mild nausea post-surgery due to the anaesthesia. Take prescribed medications to manage pink tears and swelling, antibiotics to prevent infections, and painkillers via IV line. Resume your daily routine after 2-4 days, but avoid eye-straining tasks, sports, and swimming.
Follow the comprehensive instructions for post-surgery eye care and details for upcoming follow-ups provided. Eat a well-balanced and nutritious diet and attend regular follow-ups with the ophthalmologist. Complete recovery from squint eye surgery can take 2 to 3 months.
