Hydrodilatation: Pre-Op & Post-Op Care
Preparation: Before undergoing the hydro dilatation procedure, you may be advised to discontinue certain medications that might affect the procedure. Fasting requirements vary; if instructed to fast, you should avoid eating or drinking anything for six hours before the procedure.
During the procedure: Once inside the procedure room, the injection site is thoroughly cleaned. Using X-ray guidance, a tiny needle is carefully inserted into the shoulder joint, along with a contrast dye for precise positioning. A combination of local anesthetic, saline, and corticosteroids is then injected to break joint adhesions, expand joint space, and improve mobility.
Recovery & Post-Op Care: Since the hydrodilatation procedure takes only a few minutes to an hour, the patient usually can go home the same day. The recovery period may vary from individual to individual; however, the ideal healing period ranges from 4 to 6 weeks.
Post-Op Care: Taking prescription drugs as directed and adhering to specific instructions, like seeing a physiotherapist and performing exercises to improve mobility.
Also, refrain from doing any physically demanding activities or driving until your doctor permits you to. However, if you notice symptoms like a high fever, swelling, or excruciating pain with no gradual improvements, you can get in touch with your doctor to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and improve the range of motion.
