Yashoda Hospitals Skull Base Endoscopy

For the First Time in India, Yashoda Hospitals Launches the Most Advanced Center of Excellence for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy for Complex Brain Tumor Surgeries.
Hyderabad, 26th April 2025: Yashoda Hospitals’ “Skull Base Endoscopy” — 2-Day International Summit & Live Workshop 2025 was inaugurated today by the Chief Guest and Health Secretary of Telangana State, Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, IAS, at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad.
Inaugurating the most advanced Centre of Excellence for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy, Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu said, “This will be the first Neuro-Endoscopic Center of Excellence in India, serving as a hub for neurological conditions managed through endoscopic or endoscope-assisted surgeries, particularly beneficial for brain tumor patients in India. The use of endoscopes in brain and spine surgeries has seen significant progress over the past two decades, owing to its minimally invasive approach, enhanced visualization, complete disease alleviation, and quicker recovery.”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ayyadurai R., Senior Neurosurgeon & Convenor of the Skull Base Endoscopy International Summit & Live Workshop, said, “Neuro-endoscopy offers solutions to skull base diseases, brain tumors involving deep structures, cyst fenestration, hematoma evacuation, and provides a minimally invasive solution to hydrocephalus. This summit is the first of its kind in India in the field of Neurosurgery. The highlight of this summit includes intricate teachings of endoscopic skull base anatomy through 3D anatomy sessions and the demonstration of complex endoscopic skull base approaches on fresh frozen cadavers by renowned experts from India and abroad.”
Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospitals, added, “The Skull Base Endoscopy International Summit is another feather in the cap, with a special focus on the endoscopic transorbital approach — being demonstrated for the first time in India by both international and national faculty. The transorbital approach is an evolving, groundbreaking method to address skull base diseases through an unexplored corridor. This summit also features a series of disease-based talks and panel discussions by doyens in the field of Neurosurgery, clarifying what, when, where, and how to approach these complex conditions.”
Dr. Pavan Gorukanti further announced, “Today, we are also launching Yashoda Hospitals’ Most Advanced Center for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy Center of Excellence for managing the most complicated brain tumor surgeries. This center will lead in offering solutions for epilepsy surgeries, deep-seated brain tumors accessed via robotic-assisted endoscopy, RF ablations for deep epilepsy foci through pinholes, cyst fenestrations, endoport surgeries, and hematoma evacuations.”
Explaining the significance of the new center, Dr. Ayyadurai R. said, “Robotic assistance in the medical field has been a major boon. Robotic systems designed for brain surgeries are extremely delicate and rare, significantly enhancing the safety and precision of procedures. The Yashoda Robotic Neurosurgery Center will own the third neurosurgery-specific robot in India and the first in the Telugu states. This advanced robotic system offers unparalleled precision for accessing the deepest structures of the brain. The center will also serve as a certified training hub for neurosurgeons from across the country and abroad, and will cater to many international patients seeking advanced brain surgeries.”
The event witnessed participation from more than 500 delegates, including leading Neurosurgeons and Neurologists from across India and abroad, making it a grand success.
