Rise in Gastrointestinal Diseases in South India: Experts Discuss Latest Treatment Advances at YGCON-2025

Hyderabad, 1st November 2025: Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, under the leadership of its Department of Gastroenterology, inaugurated a two-day international conference and live workshop titled “YGCON-2025” at Hotel Marigold on November 1. The event focuses on recent advances in interventional endoscopic ultrasound and advanced endoscopy procedures, with the participation of over 500 gastroenterologists from across the globe.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals, who highlighted the importance of such scientific gatherings in advancing the field of gastrointestinal medicine.

“This international conference and live workshop focuses on the latest developments in gastrointestinal medicine—from esophageal and upper GI disorders to gastric diseases and GI cancers. It features live demonstrations of third-space endoscopy and interventional endoscopic ultrasound procedures, along with in-depth discussions led by international experts. Hands-on training sessions are also being conducted for young gastroenterologists to enhance their endoscopic skills,” said Dr. Pavan Gorukanti during the inauguration.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ravi Shankar, Senior Gastroenterologist, Yashoda Hospitals–Secunderabad, said,

“Gastrointestinal diseases are among the fastest-growing health concerns in India, particularly affecting the younger population. Studies show that nearly seven out of ten Indians experience some form of gastric problem.
