Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Smt. Seethakka & popular film actress Kumari Srileela launched the Breast Cancer Awareness Book “Pink Power” today at Yashoda Hospitals-Hitech City.

Hyderabad, October 2025: Breast cancer cases are increasing day by day in India. Despite remarkable progress in breast cancer treatment in our country, survival rates are still lagging behind those of developed countries due to lack of timely detection. The main reason for this is lack of awareness and late diagnosis of breast cancer. Unfortunately, many women in our country still hesitate to come forward and express their problems. Dr. Rajesh Goud, Senior Surgical Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon, Yashoda Hospitals-Hitech City, with over a decade of experience in the field of oncology and cancer treatment, launched a book titled “Pink Power” aimed at educating women on breast cancer screening, early warning signs, nutrition, exercise, and overall well-being during and after treatment, today in the presence of Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Smt. Seethakka and renowned film actress Kumari Srileela as chief guests, along with Yashoda Hospitals Group Managing Director, Dr. G.S. Rao.

On this occasion, Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Smt. Seethakka said, “Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in India. Breast cancer is increasing day by day in rural and urban areas of our country. According to the latest statistics from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP), breast cancer accounts for 27-32% of all cancers in Indian women. Failure to detect breast cancer at an early stage makes it very difficult to treat in its advanced stages. More than 50% of Indian women develop breast cancer only at stage 3-4. The main reason for this is the lack of proper awareness among women about breast cancer. With some awareness, women can self-diagnose their condition and for this, this book titled “Pink Power” written by Dr. Rajesh Goud is a great support system for awareness about breast cancer,” said Minister Seethakka.

“With advanced surgeries, cancer has now become a treatable condition. Women should speak out about their problems and get timely tests done. Don’t lose hope; doctors like Dr. Rajesh and Yashoda Hospitals are here to provide the best treatments. I am very happy to inaugurate such a wonderful effort for women’s welfare,” said film actress Kumari Srileela.

“Yashoda Hospitals-Cancer Centre is a centre of excellence for comprehensive cancer care. With the latest medical technology available today, we can win the battle against cancer. New diagnostic techniques like PET Scan and MR Linac can detect even a cancerous tumor less than a centimeter in size. State-of-the-art treatment modalities like MR Linac Radiation, Targeted Therapy, and Immunotherapy are designed to provide better treatment and quality of life to cancer patients. On the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Rajesh Goud has released a comprehensive, evidence-based book titled “Pink Power”, written in simple, easy-to-understand language and available in multiple Indian languages. This book will help in defeating breast cancer and give hope to anyone to save themselves from the stigma surrounding the name “breast cancer”,” said Dr. G.S. Rao, Managing Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals.

Dr. Rajesh Goud, Senior Surgical Oncologist, Yashoda Hospitals-Hitech City, said, “Many women fear that breast cancer means losing their breast identity. That is no longer true. The most complex cancer surgeries can be performed with laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Plastic and reconstructive surgeries are state-of-the-art treatment options that restore a wonderful aesthetic appearance without any deformity after removal of the affected organs. With early diagnosis and advanced oncoplastic breast surgeries, we can preserve the breast and preserve the dignity of a woman without compromising the outcome of the cancer,” said Dr. Rajesh Goud.
